IoT Congress is an event that focuses on innovation and digital transformation. It brings together IoT experts (Internet of Things) to explore how to make the most of the advantages this technology offers in the business world.
The third IoT World Congress Barcelona will be held from 16 to 18 October at Fira Barcelona. An Internet of Things fair that brings together 300 exhibitors at the largest fairgrounds in Barcelona.
The aim of the IoT Congress is to position the Internet of Things as a disruptive technology that helps change the way companies and industries work. Last year, more than 14,000 professionals from the IoT sector attended IoT Congress Barcelona 2017 and there were over 300 exhibitors and sponsors.
The IoT Congress is geared towards professionals with ties to IoT technology. The congress aims to bring together top experts in IoT to delve deeper into the most important issues of this technology today.
This year, the theme for the fair in Barcelona is “The Leading IoT Industry Event” and analysts, influencers and technologicalsolutions experts will meet to debate the future of the IoTindustry with more than 300 top-notch speakers.
IoT Congress Barcelona is prepared to welcome all companies that, by implementing disruptive technology, aim to transform how they do business.
Leading companies from a variety of sectors have attended other years, including those from sectors like energy (BP, Repsol, Gas Natural Fenosa), manufacturing (Canon, Bosh), transport and logistics (such as BMW and Volkswagen), healthcare (Philips Healthcare), research and development (Boston University) and software (Nokia, Toshiba, LG), as well as Inditex and Amazon, among others.
IoT Congress Barcelona will be held from 16 to 18 October at Fira Barcelona, one of the largest fairgrounds in Europe where more than 120 fairs, congresses and events are held each year, bringing together over 30,000 companies and 2 million visitors from Spain and abroad. One of the most famous events held each year at Fira Barcelona is the Mobile World Congress, organised by Mobile World Capital®.
Among the exhibitors at IoT Congress Barcelona, you’ll find the most important technology companies in the Internet of Things industry at Fira Barcelona with the following profiles:
The 2018 Internet of Things Congress Barcelona has eight main tracks: manufacturing, energy & utilities, connected transport, healthcare, buildings & infrastructure, open industry and enabling IoT. Plus, new this year, the IoT Congress has added two additional tracks: Blockchain Solutions World and AI & Cognitive Systems.
The event features an extensive programme of conferences. However, what you need to know to make the most of it is that they are aligned to delve deeper into the use of disruptive technology to facilitate automation processes; the importance of data for decision-making and improving operations; smart infrastructures; the work methods of the future, based on ultra-connected employees; and, finally, boosting productivity while decreasing IT spending.
Plus, this year the IoT Congress has added two disruptive technology forums: Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, where participants will debate data analytics and cognitive computation, among other topics.
To attend the IoT Congress Barcelona, held at the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía fairgrounds, the address is:
Av. Joan Carles I, 64
It is easy to get there using various modes of transport, given the importance of the complex in the city and the size of the events held there each year. We recommend taking public transport (metro) or a taxi, or hiring a private transfer so you don’t have to worry about anything.
The Barcelona metro system connects most of the city. Fira Barcelona has its own station, from which it is very easy to enter or leave the grounds.
TMB L9 Sud ("Fira" and "Europa/Fira" stations)
There are more than 10,500 taxis in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, which are black and yellow. Around the city, you will also find various taxi ranks and the Fira Barcelona facilities all have taxi ranks available.
When a taxi is free, the green light on top of the car is lit up. All taxis are metered and accept payment by card.
If you’re attending IoT Congress, you can also make your way there by Barcelona public bus. The fastest option, however, is the metro or a taxi.
TMB lines H12 and 79
If you prefer to get around on your own (public transport and taxis tend to be in high demand during this type of event and may not be available at peak hours), EnjoyBCN offers you the option to make the most of the advantages and comforts of our transfer services in Barcelona.

The apartment was extremely clean and easy to get to. We took the airport bus and it was an easy walk. Coming from the US, you will probably arrive early and have to store your luggage until check in at 3PM, unless they didn't rent the apartment the day before. You can store bags free at their office where you can relax and enjoy one of the best views of Barcelona in one of the tallest buildings in the area. Make sure they explain how the electronic key works. It's not hard once you get the hang of it but if you've never used one, it may take a few tries. The WIFI was fast and you will be close to restaurants, public transportation and small groceries to purchase supplies. Be prepared to bring an adapter if you're an American. We did find a store 1 1/2 blocks away which sells them if you don't have one. Placa Cataluna is where the Hop on/Hop off buses are and several nice sightseeing options are close or easy to get to by Metro. There is an elevator. In the kitchen, there is a dishwasher, coffee pod machine, small cleaning supplies, fridge, etc. There are two bathrooms although one shower is a bit smaller than the other. When leaving, you will be asked to take out the trash to the street bins. You leave the keys inside and close the door. This has nothing to do with the apartment, but if you want to visit popular attractions, such as Sagrada Familia, purchase your tickets well in advance or they may be sold out. Everyone was very nice at EnjoyBCN and we appreciated all of their help with questions and arrangements. You can call or text them using Whatsapp using WIFI if need free calling. If this apartment doesn't work for you, they have others which may work out just as well or better!
Dear Mary, Thank you so much for this wonderful and detailed comment!
We are so happy to see that you had such a great stay at the apartment and felt well taken care of. Regarding the adapters, next time do not hesitate to ask us for them, as we have some for our American guests. It is also so nice to see that you enjoyed our new office that much. We are more than welcome to come back next time you visit Barcelona!
It has been a pleasure to host you. We hope to see you soon!

The communication went above and beyond to make sure we had all of information entered correctly and that the process of checking in was easy. Stayed here with my husband, 3 kids and my mum... it was a perfect space to accommodate us all. The apartment was clean, comfortable, with a modern decor and was great for what we needed. The communal roof terrace was an added bonus and my daughter enjoyed the small pool... it is small though, so more for dipping than swimming, and was too chilly for me!! BCN were really helpful and I always got really quick responses from any queries. We had a problem with the safe not working, but they got an engineer to come and sort this out, so not a problem. The apartment is in a great location in the Gothic quarter and right next to Las Ramblas. We were also very close to the sea and the marina, so a nice easy walk along the promenade to look at boats or walk to the beach. Would recommend and would happily stay here again.
We are so glad to see that you had a great stay and felt this well taken care of. We appreciate your feedback that will help us to improve the apartment for future travelers. It has been a pleasure to host you. We hope to see you soon in Barcelona!
